Sonja Keßner

Sonja Keßner was born in 1986 in Berlin. She holds a degree in acting as well as in social and cultural anthropology. She completed her master's degree in „Performing Arts“ at Stockholm University of the Arts and spent some time as a guest student at the „Ernst Busch“ Academy of Dramatic Arts Berlin and Max Reinhardt Institut in Vienna. Since 2010 she has been leading the Berlin based theatre group Theater.Macht.Staat mainly as an author and director. She also works as a musician and writes, performs and publishes songs and theatre music. She has been working as a freelance artist in different fields of music and theatre.

She found her love for puppetry during her studies in Berlin. Since then she has been developing her practical and theoretical skills in that special kind of performing arts. With the 2023/2024 season she has started working as a dramaturge and press dramaturge at Theater Waidspeicher in Erfurt.
